LONAGRO JOHN DEERE 5E TRACTOR LAUNCH

In early March, LonAgro Moçambique celebrated the launch of the new John Deere 5E Series of tractors. The launch was held at LonAgro Moçambique’s Maputo dealership with field demonstrations taking place at Piri-Piri Agri Academy.

The event was attended by existing and prospective customers, NGO’s, representatives from the Department of Agriculture, commercial farmers, and representatives from John Deere South Africa. LonAgro also had the pleasure of hosting guests from leading commercial banks; Standard Chartered, BCI, Millennium BIM and Barclays; all of whom work closely with LonAgro to find affordable financial solutions for the mechanization of agricultural projects in Moçambique.

The day started at LonAgro’s Maputo dealership with a Show & Tell, and Q&A session hosted by the sales team. The team ran through the obvious and not so obvious changes and improvements made to the new 5E model range, as well as exhibiting the tractors new and improved looks.

The attendees then made their way to Piri-Piri Agri Academy where, upon arrival the field conditions were still deemed too soggy. To get the best out of the day, a quick change in plans saw LonAgro exhibiting the machine’s capabilities along the road side near the entrance to the academy. This slowed traffic and attracted a much larger audience. The demo ended with the attendees being given a chance to drive and trial the tractors, and have a little fun driving the 855D Gator.

The group was then treated to a well-deserved lunch and refreshments, together with closing speeches and kind words of appreciation for all those who attended and made the day a success. A big thank you to Michael Gravina and team at the academy for making their great facilities available to LonAgro and for catering the event.
