On Monday 15 February, the Mozambican Government’s SUSTENTA Project in collaboration with LonAgro Mozambique had the honour of handing over 18 Mechanised Farming packages to small scale farmers in the Montepuez District of the Cabo Delgado province.
The SUSTENTA Project aims to improve production through the introduction of mechanized agriculture. To qualify for these packages, members were selected via tender, whereby they each had to submit a written project proposal.
Each of these mechanised packages consisted of a John Deere 5075E OOS tractor, FieldKing 3-disc plough, FieldKing 20-disc harrow, and a FieldKing 5-ton trailer. This equipment will be used in the cultivation of corn, rice, potatoes and vegetables.
With this being such a large handover and a truly special one, the ceremony was attended by Valige Tauabo, the Governor of Cabo Delgado province. Representing LonAgro Mozambique was our Sale Rep Virgilio Ubisse together with several LonAgro Mozambique Technicians who were on hand to assist recipients with their machinery. This assistance forms part of LonAgro Mozambique’s training programme which will ensure these farmers get the best advice and learn to use their machinery for maximum productivity, together with a comprehensive maintenance schedule.
The SUSTENTA Project, like all mechanised farming projects LonAgro Mozambique has been privileged to be involved with, is part of our continuing mission to ensure that we support the growth of farm mechanisation through the provision of world-class equipment from leading brands.
